Wandelung is a collaboration between the composer Vroni Holzmann and the fine artist Karl Sylvester. Over a period of ten years the artists have created a work mutually inspired by their compositions, poetry and painting. The compositions are released in recorded format by Synchrony Sounds and as a score publication by Europa Edition. The Launch of these will be part of the Wandelung Event which includes a visual arts installation and a live performance of two piano cycles.
About the artists:
Vroni Holzmann, originally from Germany, recently completed her Master of Music in Composition at Edinburgh University under the supervision of Professor Nigel Osborne. Many of her compositions have been performed to the public and her work was broadcast on Radio 3. Her compositions combine inventive minimalism with sustained emotional narratives.
Karl Sylvester has a Master in Fine Art from The Edinburgh College of Art and has since relocated to Wales. Paintings of the countryside surrounding his new home have become part of this collaboration. The artist will be attending the event.
The CD is accompanied by a booklet which includes Karl's paintings and poetry and Vroni's photography, lyrics and the score to Lullaby for a sleepy child.
